The Importance of Engagement in Business
Whether you have 50 employees, 5 employees, or you work as a solopreneur, engagement in business is essential for business success regardless of your niche or industry. Engagement in business promotes communication which is beneficial to all that is involved.
Social Media Engagement
Have you ever gone on a business page and saw a product or service that you were interested in and left a comment or question, but after a few days you still didn’t get a response back? As a potential customer or client, how did that make you feel? It made you lose interest in purchasing or doing business with that specific “inconsiderate” company right? As a business owner you need to always have two perspectives: a business perspective and the customer’s perspective. If you want to build a customer base then you need to be considerate of your customers and potential customers needs. Nobody should be ignored or overlooked- it is just bad manners and bad business. Businesses who respond and like their social media post comments will increase followers, post likes, post shares, website traffic, and leads. There are so many businesses on social media so treating people with courtesy will put you at an advantage than the business pages that choose to overlook comments, questions, and grasp the importance of engagement.
Employee Engagement
Employees are the backbone and pulse of your business since they are the ones helping with daily business operations. A strong team is essential for business growth and business success. To maintain employee morale and retain high performing employees, employee engagement is a must. Every employee has the potential to be a high performer, but only with the proper tools and information. Business owners and managers should take the initiative to communicate well and to communicate often, define goals, and to provide necessary information or training to each employee. Regular employee engagement will build employee knowledge, confidence, and efficiency. Employee acknowledgement is also part of engagement by letting your employees know their work is appreciated. This builds loyalty, retention, and continuous above average work performance. Employee engagement allows everyone to be on the same page and work in unison to reach a common goal.
Customer Engagement
Customer engagement is part of the customer service experience, whether it is through email correspondence, online chat, in-person engagement, courtesy calls, or through surveys. Having a better understanding of your customers likes, dislikes, concerns, and feedback is useful for business development and growth. Fostering customer-business relationships will benefit a business in terms of customer loyalty, word-of-mouth marketing, brand trust, positive reputation, and increase overall sales. This also allows a company to take any constructive criticism or negative experiences and implement necessary changes for higher customer satisfaction. When a business cares about their customers, customers will care about a business and will more likely recommend your products or services to their family members, friends, and colleagues.
